“Chicago is…America’s Urban Campus!” The new logo and tag line for America’s Urban Campus was inspired by the fact that the City of Chicago proper boasts one of the highest concentrations of post secondary students in the U.S.
The idea for the tag line grew out of a conversation with the AUC University presidents, provosts and chancellors in January, 2017. They urged the AUC member representatives to work collectively to develop messages and visuals that tell the story of why 213,000 students have chosen our city for their undergraduate and graduate education.
The AUC Marketing Committee is working to develop a social media campaign to demonstrate how our students use the city as an urban laboratory to further their education while serving its citizens in a variety of ways—as interns, through service learning, through student teaching, and practical experiences.
AUC partners with the City of Chicago Choose Chicago, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs to provide information on our institutions and to engage in the city’s cultural life.
As a foundation for our work, AUC commissioned a study of the "Economic, Social and Cultural Contributions of Chicago's Universities and Colleges" most recently updated in 2018. This study underscores the importance of Chicago's higher education sector in producing the talent, jobs and support for the city as a whole
